About Damaged Home Guide
When a fire, flood or storm damages a home, the people living there suddenly have to make big decisions about things they've never dealt with before: insurance claims, adjusters, packouts, cleaning, storage, and what can be saved. Most of the information online is either written by people who have never been on a job, or by companies trying to sell something.
Damaged Home Guide is here to explain it plainly, from the point of view of people who do this work every day.
Who writes it
The site is written by Blake Webb, who works with contents restoration crews in Middle Tennessee. Those crews pack out, clean, store and return the belongings of families and businesses after fires, water damage and storms. The guides here come from what we see on those jobs: what usually happens, what people wish they'd known, and the questions homeowners ask most.
What we promise
- Honest answers. Including "you may not need a packout at all" when that's the truth.
- Plain English. No jargon without an explanation.
- Your decision. We give our professional opinion. What to do with your home and belongings is always up to you.
What this site is not
We're not lawyers, and we're not your insurance company. Every policy and every state is different, so the guides here are general information, not legal or insurance advice. Always check your own policy and talk to your adjuster before making decisions.
